It’s below 0 as I right this, but things are heating up—literally and metaphorically—on Thursday as temperatures in Indiana climb back into the 30s and the Westsylvania Jazz & Blues Festival fundraiser comes to The Artists Hand Gallery. Violinist Stanley Chepaitis, vocalist Laura Ferguson, and the jazz quintet Dad Band will all perform.
Stop by to hear some music, munch on some snacks, have a drink, and find out how you can help make the Westsylvania Jazz & Blues Festival a reality.
(The snacks will include treats from Yummy for Every Tummy, Indiana’s newest bakery.)
We’ll be accepting cash and check donations, of course, but our main interest will be encouraging everyone to contribute to our Kickstarter campaign. We’re halfway to our $6,000 goal, but if we don’t make it to $6,000, we lose it all. (This is the way Kickstarter works.)
Why a fundraiser now when the Festival is scheduled for May 24? Because now is when we need to be signing contracts with musicians to headline the festival. We’re looking to bring in a musician or group known nationwide, someone who can draw folks from around Westsylvania to Indiana for the day. If we don’t have the funds by mid-January, we won’t be able to put on the festival we think Indiana (and Westsylvania) deserves.
So please stop by on January 9 between 6 and 8 pm at the Artists Hand Gallery. If you’re on Facebook, we’d love it if you’d RSVP by marking yourself as “going” on our Facebook page.
