And we didn’t just raise money—we showed just how much support there is for jazz and blues in Indiana, Pennsylvania. No one there last night can doubt that Indiana needs and wants this festival to happen.
The steering committee would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who made this event possible:
Last night happened because of the support and volunteer work of a whole bunch of people and organizations. The Artists Hand provided the space, helped promote the event, and provided a great venue. Thank you Sandy and Kyla! The Yummy for Every Tummy Bakery provided baked goods and Holiday Beverages provided beer. Eric Barker provided tech support. Liz Hermann took the photographs you see with this post (and many more we’ll publish soon!). And the Indiana Arts Council, our fiscal sponsor, has been with us every step of the way to get this event (and the whole festival) off the ground.
We need to thank our musicians, too. Violinist Stanley Chepaitis, vocalist Laura Ferguson, and the Dad Band: David Ferguson, Corbin Krug, Mike Powers, Ken Sherwood, and special guest drummer John Crookston. We also had some great musicians sitting in with us last night, including Mu, Jeannie Marie, and Zack Grass among others.
Finally, and most importantly, we need to thank our backers. And this moment, we have 73 backers on Kickstarter, in addition to many of you who provided cash and check donations last night. And we need to thank the folks who are backing up our backers: the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and the Pennsylvania Rural Arts Alliance who awarded us our initial grant, and the Lively Arts at IUP who followed that up with a generous donation.
Thank you one and all! Let’s bring this thing home.
