Jazz Cat Escapes Bag

Readers of our hometown newspaper, the Indiana Gazette, may’ve noticed a blurb in the Inside Indiana column concerning a pair of Joe Saylor performances coming up this spring.

In addition to a ticketed show at the Indiana Theater May 26, Saylor will be among the 2023 Delaney Chevrolet Westsylvania Jazz & Blues Festival headliners, performing free the next day. FRIDAY NIGHT UPDATE: ** For the Friday Night Indiana Theater Show, A LIMITED NUMBER OF STANDING ROOM ONLY TIX ARE AVAILABLE - available for purchase in-person only at the Book Nook (711 Philadelphia Street) or Helwig Insurance Agency (674 Philadelphia Street).

You may know Saylor as “the cowboy drummer for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and Jon Batiste and Stay Human.” For Disney fans, he’s on the Soul soundtrack. Locals know him as an Indiana native hailing from a deeply musical family.

Other notable career highlights include a cover of Modern Drummer magazine in addition to performances at the White House, Lincoln Center, Webster Hall, and the 2018 GRAMMY awards.

Saylor is also an educator, conducting workshops and clinics in settings ranging from music industry events to educational institutions such as Stanford University.

Stay tuned, there’s more to come.
