Westsylvania Festival before the Festival, April 28-May 5, 2017
The 2017 Delaney Chevrolet Westsylvania Jazz & Blues Festival is less than a month away!
To get you warmed up for the festival, we’ve teamed up with the Brown Hotel for short pre-festival just as April turns to May.
All three shows have a $5 cover change; the Brown Hotel is a BYOB establishment. Thanks to a special arrangement with the Brown Hotel, all proceeds, once costs are covered go to the festival.
Two weekends, three acts:
Saturday, April 29, 7–9pm
Dad Band (Jazz)
It started as a way to bring music into their kids' daycare. Thirteen years later, after playing everywhere from elementary schools to local bars and restaurants to a cornfield, Dad Band is one of the driving forces behind the Delaney Chevrolet Westsylvania Jazz & Blues Festival. Their repertoire extends from from hard bop and soul jazz to classes by Basie, Davis, and Ellington.
Thursday, May 4, 7–9pm
The Fries with That Brass (Jazz-Rock-Blues-Metal-Other)
Dave Ferguson’s new project brings a new flavor to brass band music, with selections from jazz to blues to Led Zeppelin.
Friday, May 5, 10pm–1am
Matt Barranti Band (Blues)
Known for his superb slide ability, Matt Barranti has shared the stage with everyone from Toy Caldwell to Derek Trucks and Dan Toler. Barranti’s music is influenced by Duane Allman, Dickey Betts, Wes Montgomery, Jeff Beck, Warren Haynes, Danny Gatton, and more.
